Sliding Box Sash Windows

Box sashes are the traditional style of window, where a system of weights and pulleys on a piece of sash cord  counterbalance the sash and enable easier movement of the sash. The weights are housed inside the window and hidden from view.

We can manufacture like for like box sash windows for listed buildings. On historic and Listed Buildings we can use slimlite double glazed units which can be putty pointed rather than using a bevelled bead to hold the glass in keeping it more traditional. Conservation officers prefer the option of slimlite units and putty pointing as this method reduces the section sizes of the rails and glazing bars. Our craftsmen can produce the windows to meet all safety and energy regulations, so that they are practical and efficient but also a beautiful addition to your home.

Spiral Balance Sliding Sash Windows

The use of the traditional method of weights and pulleys has been reduced over the years with an updated method of using springs in replacement. The spring balance design allows for a narrower frame profile to suit modern reveal constructions.

Stormproof Windows

Stormproof windows are some of the most commonly used window designs in the UK. They have a casement that slightly overlaps the face of the frame when closed. This feature offers additional protection against the elements in areas of extreme exposure. When combined with certain timbers like Accoya, storm-proof windows are low-maintenance and energy efficient. This type of window suits most properties from period cottages to modern apartments. This style of window can be hinged on standard stormproof hinges or friction hinges as used and for extra security can be fitted with multi-lock espagnolette locks.

Flush Casement Windows

Flush casement windows are a traditional style of window used in many modern and conservation properties. At Holme Valley Joinery we can design and customise our flush casement windows to complement the period and style of your property to ensure the finished product fits with your current windows and blends with the existing features. We use only the best quality sustainable timber, energy efficient glass and the latest technology to produce the highest standard of windows that are made to last.
